Chief researcher, content strategist, executive editor, communications director, ghostwriter. These are all titles I’ve held over the years. I’ve worked in design and technology, in agencies and in-house, and as an employee and as a consultant. The through line is communication.
At the core of each role was my ability to write words that effectively conveyed messages; to collaborate across, up, and down to get alignment and generate ideas; and to ask questions of myself and others to ensure audiences got what they needed.
Every word matters, but their collective impact is what makes the difference.
Usability and understandability are the key to good content.
Ego is old school. I don’t want to be a hero; I want to create great work.
Be personal and thoughtful
Be clear and precise
Be true to your word
I align ideas with objectives to ensure we’re not moving in an arbitrary direction. And expertly outline and structure stories, campaigns, and instructional materials.
I can ghostwrite and brainstorm with a variety of people, from higher-ups and peers, working together to creatively identify and amplify their ideas. I work closely with designers, developers, executives, subject-matter experts, and clients.
I ride the line of professional and personal thoughtfully, and manage up expertly. I am likable. It sounds trivial but it matters when you need to move fast and get things done.
